Painting Portraits

It seems like all I’ve been doing this week! Painting portraits. I took a new class from Karen Milstein, and it is a fabulous course! It’s her first e-course and I couldn’t have been happier with it. I learned so many neat techniques from her and one of the coolest things is the way she uses pigments. I’ve found that I no longer HAVE to go to the studio to paint, I can actually paint from my bed if I’m having a Fibro or back episode. I mean, how COOL is that?! I’ve always just had to stick with the colored pencils or markers but now I can actually PAINT! Well, I DO have to be careful but it is possible.

Finally, I’m beginning to find classes unfullfilling, I’m just not learning anything new. I think it’s a sign that I need to stop leaning on classes and go my own way. However, Karen’s class is one of the few exceptions. I already know how to paint but Karen took it to a new level, a looser more fun place and I gained a lot of confidence in her class.

Karen is known for her gorgeous doll girls, with big eyes and little round faces, they are so adorable you just want to squeeze them! That just isn’t my style though and I found Karen’s techniques easily adaptable to my own style. Here are a few of the girls I’ve painted this week!
