One of my first paintings for the new year. It’s an abstract (I guess you would have guessed that, lol!) I named it after my shiapoo Bonzo. Bonzo Blows a Bubble.
A Modern Day Eve, I created this piece using mixed media. She was very fun to work on and in choosing the title of the work, I just kept thinking ‘New Woman’. Well, of course the first new woman was Eve thus that is exactly what i named the piece.
Here is the original Eve:
And here is Eve Remixed, I think they would make a very cool vignette:
I had done this girl ages ago and just loved her yet she was lonely on that canvas all by herself. I’m reading Flavor for Mixed Media by Mary Beth Shaw whose work I really admire. She has short interviews with many well respected artists in which they demonstrate one of their techniques. I was inspired by Susan Tuttle’s work. Susan is multi talented in that she is a photographer, mixed media artist and digital artist (I just ordered her book Digital Expressions) as well as many other things I don’t have room to mention!
In her portion of the book she had a very cool piece where there was a standing woman and behind her was the unexpected element – a burning house. I just adored it! Not wanting to be a copy cat yet loving the feeling that the piece brought out in my I added an already burned up house to my piece. Now, a piece that was a bit bland and boring is just perfect, I love it! I hope you enjoy her as much as I do, I call her “Home is where the Heart Is”
